Baritone Benjamin Appl and Pianist James Baillieu perform Schubert’s Die Winterreise

This concert is made possible through the generous support of Donald W. Osborne and Frank Garofolo.

Baritone Benjamin Appl, whose voice “belongs to the last of the old great masters of song” with “an almost infinite range of colours” (Süddeutsche Zeitung), is celebrated by audiences and critics alike as “the most promising of today’s up-and-coming song recitalists” (Financial Times). Named Gramophone Award Young Artist of the Year in 2016, Appl continues to captivate listeners with artistry that gracefully weaves timeless tradition and vivid, heartfelt expression. In a program featuring Schubert’s Die Winterreise, Appl brings this hauntingly beautiful song cycle to life, offering an unforgettable journey through loneliness, memory, and the stark poetry of winter.
