Awakening Light at Sunrise

Framed by a quintessential Newport sunrise over the Atlantic and the iconic Cliff Walk, the Resident Festival Artists invite you to begin your day with a thoughtfully curated early morning concert. Sitting on the terrace of the Rosecliff mansion, let the gentle sea breeze and the soft glow of dawn accompany a program as peaceful and reflective as the setting itself. Presenting works by Biber, Beethoven, Pärt, Holst, and Golijov, we invite listeners to awaken with the day’s first light in harmony with the music.

Commissioned by Nevada silver heiress Theresa Fair Oelrichs in 1899, architect Stanford White modeled Rosecliff after the Grand Trianon, the garden retreat of French kings at Versailles. After the house was completed in 1902, at a reported cost of $2.5 million, Mrs. Oelrichs hosted fabulous entertainments here, including a fairy tale dinner and a party featuring famed magician Harry Houdini.

Free parking is available at the venue, including handicap spaces. Rosecliff is partially accessible with elevator in service. This concert will be held on the outdoor terrace of the mansion.

Learn more about Rosecliff here.

Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the start of the concert.

This concert will be performed without an intermission.

We regret that there are no refunds or cancellations.

If you are unable to use your tickets, you may donate them to Newport Classical for resale up until 90 minutes prior to the performance. Once your donated tickets are received by the box office, a tax receipt will be mailed to you approximately four weeks after the performance date.

Subject to availability, if you are unable to attend a performance, you will be eligible for a complimentary exchange into a future performance in the same season. Exchanges during the musical festival may be requested up until 24 hours before a concert due to the high volume of activity during the festival. Ticket buyers will be asked to pay the difference in price should the replacement performance ticket price exceed that of the original ticket. Please have the desired replacement concert selected before contacting the Box Office.
