Balourdet Quartet plays Mozart and Beethoven

The Balourdet Quartet, is based in Boston and currently in residence at the New England Conservatory’s Professional String Quartet Program. The quartet received the Grand Prize at the 2021 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition, the top prize awarded in the 2021 Premio Paolo Borciani in Reggio Emilia, Italy, the Gold Medal at the 2020 Fischoff Competition, and most recently Chamber Music America’s 2021 Classical Commissioning Grant. This riveting program opens with Mozart’s D minor Quartet, part of a personal dedication of six quartets to Haydn, flourishing through operatic narrative and personalities.  The program continues with an exciting new work by composer Karim Al-Zand, made possible by the CMA Commissioning Grant. Beethoven’s F major Quartet, the first composition from the composers middle period, anchors the evening.
