Cliburn-Bound: Friday Evening (Benefit for Ukraine)

Celebrate classical piano repertoire in this weekend-long marathon featuring nine exceptional amateur pianists, of which four are on their way to the Eighth Cliburn International Amateur Piano Competition in October 2022. The competition is hailed by the Boston Globe as “a celebration of music, and the people who have to make music no matter what.” The word amateur comes from the Latin word “amare,” which means doing something purely for the love of it and this Newport Classical special event highlights the importance of music making in everyday life. Whether you attend one, or all four performances, you will be treated to a wide array of exceptional pianists, who are also outstanding in their chosen fields.

All proceeds from our upcoming Cliburn-Bound Piano Marathon will be donated to the World Health Organization’s Emergency Appeal for Ukraine. If you are unable to attend or would like to make an additional contribution directly to the WHO Emergency Appeal, please do so by visiting our fundraiser here.
