Music Enrichment and Engagement Initiative

Newport Classical is committed to ensuring equitable access to classical music on Aquidneck Island and the surrounding communities across Rhode Island. Our Music Enrichment and Engagement programs are central to our mission and designed to reach the next generation of arts advocates, musicians, and music lovers.

Music Enrichment and Engagement Initiative

At Newport Classical, our mission extends into Newport County classrooms. During the academic year, each of our Chamber Series artists pays a special visit to a Newport County school or organization to engage local youth through performance, workshops, and discussion.
Since launching in Fall 2021, our Music Enrichment and Engagement Initiative has inspired over 2,800 students, ranging from 3 to 18 years old. These engagements grant students interactive, meaningful encounters with a wide variety of musicians and their instruments. The initiative provides our youngest audience members with the perfect opportunity for their first, up-close look at many musical instruments, and an inviting and fun introduction to the world of classical music. For music students, it’s a unique chance to ask questions, engage with professionals, and deepen their love for the art form. And for musicians, it’s a special way to pay it forward.

Adult Enrichment

Learning is a lifelong endeavor, and Newport Classical is excited to offer enriching experiences for adults. In recent seasons, we’ve welcomed audiences to pre-concert talks with Phillip Lasser, Stacey Garrop, and Tara Branham, as well as open rehearsals with our resident festival artists.

We plan to expand these offerings with more learning experiences, supplementary materials, and opportunities for audience members to connect beyond the concert hall. Check back soon to see what we have scheduled this summer!
