Whether evoking birds and animals, rain and thunder, or the sounds of rolling waves, abundant nature is an infinite source of inspiration for composers. The Newport Classical Festival Artists will take us on a journey through these touchpoints between music and nature, anchored by a string quartet reduction of Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony that explores themes from Britten’s childhood memories.
PROGRAM:
HAYDN String Quartet in F Major, Op. 74, No. 2
JEAN FRANCAIX Trio à cordes
JOHN BLACKWOOD MCEWAN String Quartet No. 8 in A Major
BRITTEN Simple Symphony
