Already a seasoned international performer, violinist William Hagen has been hailed as a “brilliant virtuoso…a standout” (The Dallas Morning News) whose playing is “… captivating, floating delicately above the orchestra” (Chicago Classical Review). He was the third-prize winner of the 2015 Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition, one of the highest-ranking Americans ever in the prestigious competition. He is joined by one of the most sought-after soloists and chamber music collaborators of his generation, pianist Orion Weiss, who is widely regarded as a “brilliant pianist” (The New York Times) with “powerful technique and exceptional insight” (The Washington Post). The duo makes their Newport debut, in a program featuring Clara Schumann’s final compositions, Dvorak’s miniature Four Romantic Pieces, the second installment to Beethoven’s Opus 30, and closing with Brahms’s final violin sonata from his Opus 108.
