Laura Metcalf

Cellist Laura Metcalf, renowned worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician, enjoys a uniquely multifaceted career. She has performed throughout the US and on six continents, and her recordings have reached #3 on the Billboard Classical Charts and surpassed 6 million streams on Spotify. Focused on creative chamber music projects that push the boundaries of what classical music can be, she tours with her duo Boyd Meets Girl and string quartet The Overlook. She has toured worldwide with the popular ensembles Break of Reality, four-time Grammy winning Eighth Blackbird, and Sybarite5, and has worked with The Knights, A Far Cry, and Orpheus Chamber Orchestras, giving countless world premieres with these various ensembles. She has appeared as a chamber soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony, Pacific Symphony, Hartford Symphony, Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, Fairfax Symphony and more. Laura is also a curator and artistic director, having presented over 170 concerts in New York as the co-founder and co-artistic director of the groundbreaking Sunday morning concert series GatherNYC. A devoted educator, she has given workshops, masterclasses and lectures at Juilliard, Curtis, Yale, New England Conservatory and many others. In 2025, she became the Music Director of the Chamber Music Conference and Composers’ Forum of the East, the first female to hold the position in the organization’s 80 year history.

With a menu of more than 30 selections spanning classical favorites, jazz, Latin, Broadway, and beyond, audience members are randomly chosen to select what the ensemble performs next. The result is an engaging, high-energy concert where no two performances are ever the same, offering an exciting musical adventure for concertgoers of all ages.
