Marian Herrero

Born in Madrid, Marian Herrero has toured as a member of the European Young Orchestra “Gustav Mahler” the most prestigious venues in Europe, such as Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Royal Albert Hall (London), Musikverein (Viena) and La Scala (Milano). She plays regularly with orchestras such as “Orquesta de Cámara de España”, “Chamber Academy Basel”, RTVE orchestra and New Mexico Philharmonic, among others.

A laureate of several chamber music competitions, she is an active member of baroque ensembles Hippocampus and Tiento Nuovo, with whom she has recorded the Avison-Scarlatti Concerti Grossi, winning the “Diapason D’Or” prize in 2021. A former member of the Habemus Quartet, she has recorded several CDs for the Non-Profit Music Label. She also participated in the project “La Nitteti” with the Baroque ensemble “Nereydas”, playing and recording the recently discovered opera from Niccolo Conforto with singers Nuria Rial and María Espada.

A sought-after pedagogue and a certified Suzuki teacher by the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA), she has taught in different conservatories in Madrid, and has her own fast-growing private studio in Lubbock (Texas).

She studied viola in Madrid, Centro Superior of the Basque Country (Spain) and holds a Master´s degree in Viola Performance and Baroque Viola from the “Hochschule für Musik” in Basel (Switzerland), where she studied with Silvia Simionescu.
