Mira Glenn Williams is a New York City-based violist and active chamber and orchestral musician. Hailing from Chicago, Mira’s early background led her to explore the vast sonic offerings of her hometown alongside her musical family. Mira’s passion for all genres has made her a champion of contemporary music and a regular collaborator with living composers and popular musicians.
Mira is a founding member of the Highland Street quartet, which has performed with organizations including the Banff Centre, Music in the Vineyards, NPR’s From the Top, and Music For Food, and has collaborated with ensembles like the Miro, Escher, Parker, Eybler, Pacifica, and JACK Quartets. Mira is a member of the Binghamton Philharmonic and frequent performer with other New York and New England-area ensembles including the Experiential Orchestra (EXO), Palaver Strings, the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Eureka Ensemble, Heartbeat Opera Company, and more. While studying in London, Mira performed with the Chineke! Orchestra, London Philharmonic, and her own Coalitiō Quartet. She has soloed with the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra and Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago and has been featured numerous times on Chicago’s own WFMT classical music station and NPR, eventually co-producing a New England area “Classical Roadshow” tour with Highland Street. Mira attended the New England Conservatory in Boston, studying with Kim Kashkashian, Nicholas Cords, and Cathy Basrak, and studied in London with David Takeno. She is a Sphinx Organization MPower Artist and Chicago Musician’s Club of Women scholarship award winner.
